India's public charging network is expanding rapidly, backed by government schemes (FAME-II and state EV policies) and a wave of private operators. Because EV adoption spans two-wheelers, three-wheelers and cars, you'll see a wider mix of connector standards here than in most countries.
Connectors you'll meet
- Type 2 — the AC standard for most cars sold today.
- CCS2 — the DC fast-charging standard on new cars.
- GB/T — the Chinese standard, found on some models and buses.
- Bharat AC-001 / DC-001 — India's own earlier standards, still at some sites.
- Domestic 3-pin sockets — widely used to charge two- and three-wheelers and for slow home charging.
